i just got back from the gosho study meeting at aunty joyce's place... and as usual i was playing with kent, jewel and leo before and after the study meeting.
kent was really exhilarated to show me his report book and this letter that he received. it was quite funny cos' he kept bugging me to read the letter. then i was like, "jiejie is tired, why don't you read it to me?" then he did some silly action and tried to enlarge his eyes with his fingers then went on to say, "blah blah blah blah." (trying to tell me that he is reluctant to) then i was like, "okay fine i'll read it..."
so i was reading.. and reading.. "you have been invited to the inaugural ceremony...." then i went on to say "blah blah blah blah" cos' i was too tired to read anymore words. then jewel and kent laughed and i passed him back the letter.
but just as i thought the wordy torture was over, he said that i haven't read the part that he wanted me to see. then i asked him, "what is it?"
so finally, he pointed out to me this line that states, "you have been invited because your child will be receiving a prize... etc." then i went.. "OHHH!!! so this is what you've been trying to tell me? that's why you kept asking me to read the letter?" then he gave this very sheepishly cheeky smile (as usual).
and kent told me today that he wanted to be the President of Singapore "after Nathan dies". yupp he said those exact words, "after Nathan dies" (with all due respect). i was slightly taken aback cos' the way he said it was as if he was looking forward to our President's passing! geesh! but you know, he's only 7 years old so i just let it pass. haha. it was quite fun listening to him talk about his aspirations. he went on to say that if he can't be the President, he wants to be the Commander of the President or something like that. i can't quite remember. he seemed to know a lot, perhaps because of his dad's influence.
when i was 7 years old, i had 2 aspirations. both starts with the alphabet 'C'. wanna make a guess? (answer at the bottom of the post)
it was refreshing playing with the kids. sometimes kids just want someone to listen to them without nagging or giving a second opinion. i think that's important cos' when these children are not afraid to speak to you, their imagination runs wild and they tend to be less afraid to think out of the box, think beyond what is given, and to dream.. no judgements, no rejections, but encouragement and support from the people who lend these kids their ears. and dreaming, is crucial, especially for these kids.
anyways, while i was drying myself after my shower, i realised that i have many bruises on my body :( some are very obvious because of the red sores and bizzare swellings.. (looks super weird and gross) ouch.. and some, like the ones on my chest (not breast; chest.) don't have any bruises but just hurt when i apply pressure on that area. i think they're all the result of the rescue boards. cos we had crazy monsterous training today so yupp. ouch...
