regarding the
Standard Chartered Marathon, i am sorry to inform my dear friends that due to the overwhelming response, there are
no more vacancies for the
Volunteer roles. hence, we won't be able to camp there overnight and perform our duty from 2am onwards on December the 7th.
it is quite unfortunate because i know some of you have been looking forward to it. but i'm sure that there'll be more opportunities in the near future, so let's give our fullest support to friends who are joining this Marathon of the year! :) whether you're running the full 42km marathon like
hoongy, or half a marathon & the 10km run, like
mel,
derrick, etc... we will supporting you guys all the way! hoongy, i am offering you massage services, i can use the metal meat mincer/pounder to help soften your leg muscles the night before. teehee :)
i know of many friends who are training hard for this marathon, some of whom have injured themselves along the way, so i would like the emphasize the importance of your
SAFETY and
GOOD HEALTH in the midst of this gruelling journey. haha. 25 more days for you! JIAYOU!
as for me, i am contemplating whether to join the
Singapore Biathlon 2009. this event consists of an Olympic-standard 1.5km swim followed by a 10km run. (participants must be able to swim 30 laps of 50 metres under 40 minutes at a swim trial) i am confident to swim 1.5km in open waters, but... i really don't know whether i can run 10km with my weak ankles and knees AFTER swimming. i'm in a dilemna. will i be able to train myself up within 3 months? (to start after my exams)i'm 100% sure hoongy will join this, i wonder if weibin will? i shall ask the ULC people tomorrow after our test. rongming agrees that i should give it a shot, especially since i'm going for the experience, not so much for the timing.
well, what i'm sure of is that it would be one of the greatest achievements for me to complete an Olympic-standard biathlon in the year 2009, the year i turn 21.
